What is Animation?
Animation is all about creating an illusion of movement through the persistence of vision. Or, in short, making still objects to appear to move. Animation has evolved over the years into many varying techniques, some of which, will be mentioned below.
Animation Techniques:
Hand Drawn Animation - creating one drawing and replacing another in a specified order, creating an animation.
Cut-out Animation - moving paper cutouts around a scene and replacing them with other cut outs, producing an animation.
Stop-motion Animation - uses 3-D models. Models can be made from various materials. Models are positioned, a photo is taken, then models are slightly moved. Process is repeated until animation is complete.
Computer Generated Images (CGI) - use computer software programs to produce 3-D models and backgrounds. Can use a combination of homemade and computer-generated images.
------------------------------------------------------------
With all of these different types of animation and long processes to create a realistic feel to your animation, various careers in animation exist. These careers include writer, art director, animator, cartoonist, production assistant, and many more.
My Reflection:
I think animation is pretty neat but a lot of work. It requires a huge amount of time to produce a lengthy movie or even a scene that lasts a few minutes!
