Angles and Zooms

 Unit 3 Activity 4

This post will be about some of the various angles and zooms that can be used in photographs.

Angles in Photography:

Eye Level -  most common view. Eye level means the subject's eye level, not the photographer's.

Bird's Eye -  photographing subject from directly above them.

High Angle - less extreme than Bird's Eye angle, but still looking down on a subject or scene.

Low Angle -  reverse of high angle. Gives the subject a look of superiority.

Slanted/Oblique -  point-of-view shot since the camera becomes the eye of the viewer. Produces odd-angled pictures.

Shots in Photography:

Extreme Long Shot - photo taken from a big distance. Allows for little detail to show but gives a general impression of the area.

Long Shot -  shows the subject in full figure.

Medium Shot - captures subject from the waist up.

Close-Up -  captures little background with magnified subject. Focuses the importance of the subject.

Extreme Close-Up -  magnified version of close-up. Captures details that would normally not be seen.

Two Shot -  consists of two people. Captures them from waist up.

Over the Shoulder -  shows camera looking at one subject over the shoulder of the other.

My Reflection:

I think it's important that a photographer uses the right type of shot for the right occasions. Otherwise, a photo may not fulfill its purpose.
